Religious Themes

HERE IS A SELECTION OF SOME OF THE MAGNIFICENT PAINTINGS WITH RELIGIOUS THEMES CREATED BY LOUIS MONTILLET

The pictures we receive and for which we are very appreciative, are sometimes taken with excessive brightness or at an angle that can compromise the quality of the painting. We are not always able to get better shots. But since these paintings are all so beautiful, they are shown just the same. The purpose of this site is primarily to share the artist's work.

We take this opportunity to thank all those who have taken the time to send us a photo of their painting to share with everyone.

Done in a very intense and prolific period, this portrait of Christ represents a certain side of the artist. On this painting, you can read a few lines from the Sermon on the Mount, dedicated to people who suffer. This painting was done for the artist's daughter, Marie-Christine. Both shared a love of Christ.

One can read a thousand things in His eyes ... plays of bluish tones, except for the hand that blesses, and the golden light that speaks "Peace be with you".

Louis admired the work of the Saint. He also loved animals and the beauty of nature. One of his paintings of St. Francis is hung in a church in Montreal. The photo of this painting does not show the writing at bottom right very well. Here is what is written (Prayer of St. Francis):

“Lord, Make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon;.
Where there is discord, let me create agreement.
Where is the error, let me bring truth.
Where there is doubt, let me inspire faith.
Where there is despair, let me bring hope.
Where is darkness, let me bring light.
Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.
O Lord, I do not so much seek to
be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in losing ourselves that we are found,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.”
