THIS SITE IS DEDICATED TO LOUIS MONTILLET, MASTER ARTIST EXTRAORDINAIRE.

Louis was a very prolific artist and created many paintings, scenes and murals. When you look at his portraits, notice the eyes. They are what catches your attention right away; you can read so much in them.

“I remember, as a child, how often did we feel like we wanted to keep the paintings because they were so beautiful. I still can see that gorgeous painting he did of Robin Hood kissing Lady Marianne. She was wearing a blue satin dress and you could have touched it, it looked so real.

Another time he painted a gypsy and used my mom as his model. The golden hearings, the dark hair, the beautiful profile… My God it was stunning! Unfortunately it was for clients and we had to let it go, and so many more like this one.

I remember, in France, playing in a castle while Dad was on a ladder restoring the frescos on the walls. There were a lot of castles in our area (Dordogne) and the French government had hired him to do the work. He was an amazing artist, very versatile. He could do complicated reproductions of ancient scenes as well as totally modern works, like the simple portrait of a dancer.

At different times, when we were adults, we asked him to do some paintings for us; we knew that, as the saying goes “The shoemaker's son always goes barefoot”, so we wanted to make sure that we would have some of his work.”

Several years after Louis passed, we decided that it would be nice to show his wonderful work to the world.

It all started with his portrait of Christ during his time of suffering. This is a gorgeous portrait that he did for his daughter Christine. She was very present in his life and helped him more than once when life became too harsh for the sensitive soul that he was. Jesus was his solace and inspiration and he loved Him so much.
Just prior to Easter we had printed up some cards of his painting of Christ. After seeing how his work touched people, we decided that we should have a site where people could go and simply enjoy Louis Montillet’s artistry. So we went and looked for others of his paintings, and the quest started.

Simone B., a very good friend and loyal customer of Louis, shared with us these beautiful words:
"The beauty of things lives in the soul of one who recognizes it"
-- David Hume

"There is nothing in heaven and on earth that love isn’t capable of giving"
-- Paul Claudel
